A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE TERRY W. BROWN FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED AND INFLUENTIAL SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, Representative Terry W. Brown of Columbus, Mississippi, has chosen not to seek reelection to the Mississippi House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, his decision brings to a conclusion 12 years of dedicated and distinguished service to the people of the Fortieth House District and to the citizens of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown served in the House of Representatives from 1988 through 1999, providing the citizens of Lowndes county with decisive leadership and commitment to the principles of excellence; and

WHEREAS, Representative Brown's proven ability was recognized when he was appointed Chairman of the Public Buildings, Grounds and Lands Committee (1992-2000); and member of the Appropriations, Conservation and Water resources, Fees and Salaries of Public Officers and Public Health and Welfare Committees; and

WHEREAS, he has been closely involved in many significant bills which were considered during his term; and

WHEREAS, Representative Terry W. Brown was born on March 14, 1950, at Columbus, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, he is married to the former Andra Leonar Dobbel, and they have three children: Andrew Cody, Charles Randolph and Terry Wayne Jr.; and

WHEREAS, he is well known for his common sense, good nature and jocular manner, all of which will be missed by his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Representative Terry W. Brown has distinguished himself as a highly respected legislator and has served in a manner which will be an exceptional model for his successors to emulate; and

WHEREAS, Representative Terry W. Brown has qualified to run for the Office of Lieutenant Governor of the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the exemplary service of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE, That we do hereby commend Representative Terry W. Brown for his distinguished and dedicated service to the people of the State of Mississippi and we wish him success in his endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Brown and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
